Proposed Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan - Lands to be retained by PG&E at Battle Creek

TThe Watershed Planning Committee of the Stewardship Council forwarded to the board of directors for its consideration and possible adoption the proposed Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan (LCCP) for a portion of the Battle Creek planning unit for public review and comment. 

The draft LCCP was made available for a public review and comment period from April 20, 2017 to May 22, 2017.

 

Recommendations

At its January 23, 2014 meeting, the board recommended the United States Forest Service (Lassen National Forest) as the prospective fee title donee for approximately 929 acres of land in the Battle Creek planning unit, located in Shasta County.

At its May 2, 2012 meeting, the board recommended the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) as the prospective recipient of fee title to approximately 2,326 acres of land at the Battle Creek planning unit, located in Shasta County.

The board also recommended PG&E retain 2,362 acres of land that had previously been made available for donation at the Battle Creek planning unit. This acreage is in addition to the 1,253 acres originally designated for PG&E for retention.

At its June 27, 2012 meeting, the Stewardship Council Board of Directors recommended the Northern California Regional Land Trust as the prospective conservation easement holder for the Battle Creek planning unit lands in Tehama County. The board also recommended the Western Shasta Resource Conservation District as the prospective conservation easement holder for the Battle Creek planning unit lands in Shasta County.

The Stewardship Council will make available the fee title donee recommendations for the remainder of the lands in the Battle Creek planning unit at a later date.

Land Stewardship Proposals

The Stewardship Council received two land stewardship proposals from organizations interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Battle Creek planning unit. The US Forest Service – Lassen National Forest and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection prepared and submitted proposals and are responsible for the information contained therein. Proposals are presented as is, and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of the information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The Stewardship Council fully reviewed and considered the proposals before recommending the organizations for donation of fee title to lands within the Battle Creek planning unit.

Please note that the Land Stewardship Proposal submitted by California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection linked to below concerns multiple planning units including the Battle Creek planning unit.
