Land Transfer to the USFS at Lower Bear Area (Cole Creek) Planning Unit

The donation of Lower Bear Area (Cole Creek) to the United States Forest Service and the establishment of a conservation covenant held by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy were finalized on December 10, 2015.

Permanent Protection of Lower Bear Area Planning Unit with a Conservation Easement - PG&E Retained Lands

On August 28, 2015 a conservation easement was recorded to protect the Beneficial Public Values of 899 acres to be retained by PG&E at the Lower Bear Area planning unit. The conservation easement is held by Mother Lode Land Trust.

Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan Adoption - Lands to be Retained by PG&E

At its September 10, 2014 meeting, the board adopted the Lower Bear Area Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for the Lower Bear Area planning unit located in Amador County, California.

The LCCP describes how the proposed transactions and related agreements conform to and fulfill all requirements of the 2003 Settlement Agreement and Stipulation.

The draft LCCP was made available for public review and comment for a 30-day period from July 28, 2014 to August 27, 2014.

Final Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan Adoption - Lands for donation to USFS at Cole Creek

At its September 10, 2014 meeting, the board adopted the Lower Bear Area (Cole Creek) Land Conservation and Conveyance Plan for the Lower Bear Area (Cole Creek) planning unit located in Amador County, California.

Recommendations

At its May 11, 2011 meeting, the board recommended the United States Forest Service (Eldorado National Forest) as the prospective fee title donee for 907 acres of land in the Lower Bear Area planning unit, located in Amador County.

At is December 2, 2010 meeting, the board recommended the Mother Lode Land Trust as the prospective conservation easement holder on the property.

Land Stewardship Proposals

On July 16, 2010, the Stewardship Council received land stewardship proposals from organizations interested in being considered for a donation of fee title to certain lands located within the Lower Bear Area planning unit. The US Forest Service (Eldorado National Forest) and Amador County prepared and submitted proposals. The respective organizations prepared the information and statements contained in these proposals. Proposals are presented as is, and the Stewardship Council does not make any assertion regarding the accuracy or completeness of information presented, nor do the proposals necessarily reflect the views of the Stewardship Council. The Stewardship Council will fully review and consider the proposals before recommending any organizations for donation of fee title to lands within the Lower Bear Area planning unit.

Please note that the Land Stewardship Proposal submitted by the United States Forest Service linked below concerns several planning units in addition to the Lower Bear Area planning unit.
